Safety Guidelines

Effective date: 06-05-2026

RedPlus uses controlled breath-hold hypoxia and SpO₂ tracking. This means that oxygen saturation may temporarily drop during or after a breath-hold session.

You must read and follow these Safety Guidelines before using RedPlus, performing any RedPlus session, or accepting the Safety Clearance inside the app.

By using RedPlus, you confirm that you understand the risks, accept responsibility for safe use, and agree to follow all app warnings, safety pop-ups, vibration alerts, and instructions.

1. RedPlus Is Not Medical Advice

RedPlus is a performance and training tool. It is not a medical device, diagnostic tool, treatment, or substitute for professional medical advice

RedPlus does not diagnose, prevent, treat, or cure any medical condition

If you have any medical concerns, you must consult a physician or qualified healthcare professional before using RedPlus.

2. Do Not Use RedPlus If You Have Health Risk

You must not use RedPlus without prior medical clearance if you have, or suspect you may have, any of the following

  • heart disease or known heart defects

  • history of heart attack, stroke, arrhythmia, fainting, seizures, or loss of consciousness

  • high blood pressure, especially if uncontrolled

  • respiratory disease, asthma, COPD, sleep apnea, or reduced lung function

  • neurological conditions

  • pregnancy

  • anemia, iron deficiency, blood disorders, or abnormal hematocrit/hemoglobin values

  • recent surgery, acute illness, fever, infection, or unexplained fatigue

  • any condition where reduced oxygen saturation may create increased risk

Breath-hold activities can create hypoxia, and official safety warnings around breath-holding note that hypoxia can lead to unconsciousness in dangerous contexts, especially in water or unsafe environments.

3. Use Only in a Safe Position

RedPlus sessions must only be performed:

  • seated

  • lying down

  • in a safe indoor or controlled environment

  • away from water, traffic, stairs, machinery, sharp objects, or any situation where dizziness or loss of control could cause injury

You must never use RedPlus:

  • while driving

  • while cycling

  • while swimming

  • in water

  • while standing in an unsafe place

  • while operating machinery

  • during sport or physical movement

  • alone if you are inexperienced or uncertain about your response

4. Do Not Compete With the App

RedPlus is not a competition to hold your breath as long as possible or force SpO₂ as low as possible.

The purpose is controlled hypoxic dosing.

You must not chase extreme SpO₂ drops, ignore warning signals, or push beyond the app’s safety guidance.

The typical RedPlus working range is intended to be controlled and progressive. The preferred performance zone is generally around 70–80% SpO₂, but users must follow the app’s current guidance and safety alerts at all times.

Pulse oximeters are also less accurate at very low readings; UK medical-device guidance notes that accuracy falls below 70% SpO₂, so very low numbers should not be treated as precise measurements.

5. Follow All App Warnings

RedPlus may use safety warnings including:

  • pop-up warnings

  • vibration alerts

  • visual warning signals

  • stop-session instructions

  • SpO₂ threshold alerts

  • recovery guidance

  • session-limit guidance

You must follow these warnings immediately.

If the app tells you to stop, recover, or avoid continuing, you must stop the session.

Ignoring app warnings, pushing below recommended limits, or continuing despite symptoms is misuse of RedPlus and is done at your own risk.

6. Stop Immediately If You Feel Unwell

Stop the session immediately if you experience:

  • dizziness

  • faintness

  • chest pain

  • abnormal heart rhythm

  • confusion

  • visual disturbance

  • tingling or loss of control

  • unusual shortness of breath

  • panic

  • nausea

  • headache

  • prolonged low SpO₂

  • any feeling that something is wrong

If symptoms continue, seek medical assistance.

Normal resting SpO₂ is commonly around 95–99% in healthy individuals, though some people with lung or heart conditions may have different baseline values and should consult a doctor about what is normal for them.

7. Respect Baseline Recover

During a RedPlus repetition, SpO₂ may continue to fall after the breath-hold ends.

A repetition includes:

  1. the breath-hold phase

  2. the recovery period after the breath-hold

The SpO₂ dip often appears during recovery, which is why recovery time matters.

As a general principle, users should allow sufficient recovery between repetitions. More experienced users may start the next repetition when SpO₂ has returned toward baseline, but only if they feel normal and the app does not show any warning.

8. Do Not Hyperventilate

Do not deliberately hyperventilate before a RedPlus breath-hold.

Hyperventilation can reduce the normal urge to breathe and may increase the risk of hypoxic blackout, especially in unsafe environments or water-related contexts. Safety organisations warn that hyperventilation and extended breath-holding in water can be dangerous and potentially deadly.

9. Use Reliable Equipment

RedPlus depends on SpO₂ measurement.

You should use a compatible pulse oximeter and make sure it is fitted correctly.

Readings may be affected by:

  • cold fingers

  • movement

  • poor sensor placement

  • nail polish or artificial nails

  • poor circulation

  • device quality

  • very low SpO₂ levels

  • sensor delay

Use SpO₂ trends as guidance, not as a guaranteed precise medical measurement.

10. Weekly Target and Progression

RedPlus uses weekly app targets and progress visualisation to support structured use.

The target is a training reference inside the app. It is not a medical promise and does not guarantee any specific biological result.

Estimated RBC/HCT progress values are app-based estimates. They are not laboratory measurements.

You must progress gradually and avoid sudden increases in volume, intensity, or number of repetitions.

11. Beta and Development Status

If you are using a beta version of RedPlus, you understand that the app is still under development

Beta features, warnings, thresholds, calculations, displays, and recommendations may change

You must use extra caution during beta testing and report any unexpected issue, symptom, sensor error, or app behaviour to RedPlus.

12. Your Responsibility

By using RedPlus, you agree that:

  • you have read these Safety Guidelines

  • you understand that hypoxic training involves risk

  • you are responsible for using the app safely

  • you will follow all warnings and instructions

  • you will stop if you feel unwell

  • you will not use RedPlus in unsafe situations

  • you will seek medical advice if you have health concerns

  • you will not misuse the app to chase extreme SpO₂ drops

Failure to follow these Safety Guidelines may increase the risk of injury, fainting, loss of consciousness, or other adverse events.

13. Emergency Warning

Seek urgent medical help if you experience:

  • chest pain

  • fainting

  • loss of consciousness

  • severe shortness of breath

  • confusion

  • blue lips or face

  • persistent abnormal oxygen saturation

  • symptoms that do not quickly resolve after stopping
